Debt Help.
Written By Ellise Walsh
If you need and want to get out of debt, where exactly do you turn for help?
There are obviously a number of factors that you would consider when needing
advice. Things such as, honesty, availability, and credibility of the
company, etcetera, will ultimately determine your choice. However, the
advice you will get from a recommended, reliable and renown company (which
is, lets be honest, where you would ideally like to go for help) is never
going to be free, and is certainly not going to be cheap. And, as if your
debts aren't enough to be paying out for already, another outgoing to them,
wont attract you to tackle your debts, no matter how much you may need the
help.
Debt can cause great stress to whoever chooses to incur it regularly enough.
However, I have found that the stress doesn't necessarily come from the
amount of debt to which owe. It is usually from the fact that different
payments require different payment due dates. If you have a couple or more
debts to pay, then this could mean you are forever living to a deadline with
your finances. Arranging anything that costs money, therefore, becomes
difficult as you will never truly know how stable your finances will be when
you reach that date. This may all seem obliquely obvious to us all who
usually have to borrow money as a way of living, or who can't resist the
temptation of being able to 'get it now, and pay later' (like myself).
Whatever your reason's are for falling into debt though, there is help out
there in many shapes and forms.
I remember when the prospect of a creditor lending me money, first came to
me. It was so easy to do, and at the time, so hard to think of reasons not
to. I was young, I was in my favorite shop and I wanted to buy something
completely over priced, and completely out of my price range, but surely
enough - it was a must have. As I had no money, a store card helped that
situation considerably. Then a month later, the paying for this bill meant
that I was left with no money once again. Then another must have arrived
that month in the same shop, and my card lent me some help once again. The
vicious cycle continued until I was forever living and spending without real
cash.
I'm sure your lending started in a way similar, and just as naive too. It's
strange
to think that we voluntarily put ourselves in these situations.
My bank then offered to help my situation. Of course we can help, they said.
We'll open you up a credit card! Another card? Yes - exactly what I wanted!
However, this did allow me to consolidate my debts, by paying them off, and
starting again - this time with just one card and just one payment. A lot
easier I must say. And with the interest free period they gave me, it seemed
a great help at the time. However, as you've probably experienced too, one
card doubled to two, then doubled again to four. Then, once again, I was
looking for help.
Surely there should be a warning attached to every new credit or store card
opened. It should clearly state that 'you are at risk of suffering from the
stress of debt unless you rip this card up immediately and go back to using
cash. Save yourself the hassle now, as no one can help you after wards!'
Those who have looked for real genuine advice, as well as solution methods,
will know that it's usually a rushed process.
The most stressful time came for me, when getting into debt became a must
not an absent minded choice. I felt stupid that I had already got myself
into a moderate amount of debt, for trivial things that weren't necessities,
and that could have simply waited for the cash. Buying a home was an
essential for me, however, and one that would have been easier to pay alone.
It's taken me to get to this point in life for me to learn about the
hardship of debt, in order to help myself out of it.
However I have only managed this through experience; I don't advise anyone
to experience debt just to learn from it. But, if in depth information is
